Faiza Umar Bawah

Ms Faiza Umar Bawah is a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Informatics at the University of Energy and Natural Resources. She is currently pursuing a PhD program in Computer Science at university of Ghana. Her key research interests are Educational Data Mining (EDM), Artificial Intelligence and Human Computer Interaction.She is currently working on a project that research into user interfaces, user experience and co-design of digital diagnostic tools. Computing is not only about the development of software but encompasses the satisfaction of customers.  

She became an expert in blended learning after participating in the Partnership for Enhanced and Blended Learning (PEBL) West Africa edition. This training equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to transition face-to-face courses to blended learning. Additionally, she was selected to attend the Digital Education Master Class, which focused on the development of online courses. The availability of Learning Management Systems and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality will enable the development of new pedagogies tailored to the environment and demands of the developing world. 

Faiza aims to serve as a role model for incoming students, especially those interested in physical and computer sciences. She is a member of the Institute of ICT Professionals, Ghana, the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), the Ghana Chapter of the Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (WiSTEMGH), the Ghana Chapter of the Internet Society, and the Ghana Science Association.
